Gallup Map Company
My name is Patrick Carroll and I own Gallup Map Company. My business has changed so dramatically in the last 5-10 years, from useful paper maps to vintage/ antique reproductions of maps as art. Scroll down for my story.
I have always loved the Art of Cartography, and Gallup Map has a huge archive of our maps we made dating back to 1911. I have embraced this treasure from the past as a way forward to our future. Some of the unique art pieces combine elements from other maps making them even more unique and decorative.
Gallup Map is in the top 15 oldest continuing operating companies in Kansas City circa 1875.
My family has owned the Gallup Map Company since 1968. You don't get to be a 140+ year old company overnight! Every day we strive to deliver the very best customer satisfaction experience possible. We do that by listening first, then do our best to deliver and exceed your expectations. This is proven even more if you decide on a custom map made just for you. You choose the size, colors, and any wording you want added to the map and more.
All maps to some degree are an interactive and conversational art piece that can add to the decor of any room. Old maps on canvas are super cool as they are durable and the art of the cartography gets more elaborate and beautiful as the maps get older!
A recent cover story in the Kansas City Star Magazine features Gallup Map’s transition from providing the most trusted local street atlas and wall maps, showing our customers how to get from point A to point B, (current wall maps still available) however the demand for paper maps has shifted to GPS and cell phones.
Today Gallup Map proudly creates reproductions of vintage, antique and historical maps; custom decorative lake maps from the middle west region; and “honor maps” that show the country or city of a family’s ancestry—all enhanced and preserved through our mounting and framing services. We continue to add products and new ideas such as shirts to our product line.
Our newest unique idea is our "Honeymoon Maps" as a wedding gift. We find the coolest old map of where a newly wed couple honeymoons, we add their names and wedding date to make a beautiful treasure that will decorate their home forever.
We take pride in creating the highest quality maps, which is reflected in the materials used to make your map. While we still offer paper prints and laminating, 95% of the maps we print are done on canvas using our photo quality printer. Combined with 100 year non-fade UV inks you will get a product that looks and feels like art that will be enjoyed for generations.
