ABOUT ERICA BOEHM OF On Purpose:
I love home decor and decided that I would start making my home look like the magazines. I painted my first piece of furniture and was hooked. So furniture turned into frames, chalkboards, really nothing is safe from being repainted. "I think it is the best way to update you house and style", says Erica.
I sell painted furniture. I make custom frames with clips that will match any decor. I love to make orbs out of embroidery hoops! Really anything cute that I find when I am out and about makes it to my booth!
I think that making the old new again is what inspires me. I can take a piece of furniture that my grandparent would have had in all of their bedrooms and make them relevant again. So the piece never has to go out of style, it lives on from generation to generation with a coat of paint.
Being in this business has made me think of my grandmother very often. She loved things, nice things and they worked hard to have them I appreciate that generation in a way that I never had before. All the things she loved are coming back into style and I think that is awesome to know that I have a hand in that.
One thing I can never seem to pass up are jars and vintage Pyrex! That is it! I have bought so many pieces with the intent to bring them to Ju Ju and the end up in my kitchen! Always!
Three words that describe my current trend at Good Ju Ju are "Painted, furniture and frames".
One of my favorite sayings is, "She turned her cant’s into cans, and her dreams into plans…".
I love HGTV magazine, it always has fresh ideas and great color schemes that are trending. I follow Diva of DIY, she is one of my friends and I take a lot of inspiration in my work from her.
