The Rusty Buckets of Linn Valley

Antique dealers "The Rusty Buckets of Linn Valley" have joined Good Ju Ju; Kansas City's favorite antique and vintage shopping store. Find them on our 2nd floor

Janie and Bill have always loved primitives, junk and pretty much anything found in a ditch.  And when Janie would find a piece of furniture she liked, Bill would usually say, “I can build that”.  And so it began.

Their house became full of primitive reproductions. Janie would then drag bill to all of the antique, vintage and junk stores to find what she thought were “treasures” to place on the pieces.  For years their Christmas gifts to their kids consisted of a pice of furniture that Bill had made. As their houses began to fill their friends would ask if Bill would consider making them furniture. But they were just too busy with grandkids and family and, oh yes, full time jobs.

One day Janie wandered into the West Bottoms and “WOW” did she get an idea. Bill just shook his head, realized retirement was no longer, put a paint brush and stain rag in her hand and immediately informed her that her new career had just began. They like to think of their pieces as functional primitive reproductions. A combination of old doors, windows, headers, etc. and new wood to make old looking pieces that work.

Didn’t take long for them to become addicted. They love talking with the customers and having them share their excitement. They have made so many new friends and have found so man old friends that they hadn’t seen in a long time. They were thrilled when someone sends them a picture of what they have done with their new piece or when they suggest something new for them to build.  First Friday’s in Kansas City’s West Bottoms antique shopping district has become a weekend that they look forward to and think you will too! Come see them and the other fun and creative vendors that they are surrounded by. They guarantee it won’t take long for you to become addicted too!
